A short-term opportunity has become available for a Principal at Warwick East State School. Located in the scenic Darling Downs, Warwick East State School provides a broad curriculum and personalised learning opportunities within a supportive and connected community. This role offers the opportunity to build on the school's strong culture of belonging, high expectations and quality teaching, while leading positive outcomes for students, staff and the wider community. This is a temporary full-time position until 11 September 2026, unless otherwise determined.

About Us:

Situated in the eastern suburbs of Warwick on the Condamine River, our school provides a co-educational primary education from prep to year 6 for about 240 students from Warwick and the surrounding rural area. The school has a long history dating back to 1850, making it the oldest school in Queensland. The National School building, one of the original buildings is heritage listed.

The Warwick East State School facilities are comprised of primary, special education unit and prep facilities on one campus. The resource centre houses the school's library collection as well as a lab of computers and a media room equipped with interactive white boards. Other hubs of computers are located in the middle and upper school classrooms with all classes having access to computers in their room, via a hub of portable devices or through a computer lab. 

Warwick East State School is situated on picturesque, spacious grounds that include extensive playground equipment under shade, spacious playing fields, practice cricket pitch, multi-purpose courts and an undercover play/learning area.

About the Role:

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Provide strategic leadership by developing and championing a shared educational vision that promotes high-quality learning outcomes, future-focused planning, and continuous school improvement.
  • Lead with integrity and equity by upholding ethical, values-based leadership, embedding socially just practices, and fostering a culture of high expectations for all students and staff.
  • Build professional and community capacity by engaging in lifelong learning, supporting ongoing professional development, and establishing strong partnerships with parents, community organisations, government agencies, industry, and business.
  • Ensure effective governance and resource management by applying relevant legislation and policies, and managing people, finances, and resources strategically to achieve school goals.
