We are seeking an inspiring, strategic and highly collaborative Deputy Principal to provide exceptional educational and operational leadership and contribute to a strong culture of excellence, inclusion and continuous improvement across the school. The successful applicant will work closely with the Principal and leadership team to develop and implement a shared vision focused on high-quality learning outcomes, student wellbeing and staff development. This is a temporary full-time position until 11 December 2026, unless otherwise determined.

About us:
Harlaxton is a small school in a northern suburb of Toowoomba, the regional centre of the Darling Downs, 140km west of Brisbane. The school opened on September 2nd, 1901 and has strong partnerships with many local community organisations who support us economically and socially.
Harlaxton State School is a (PBL) 'Positive Behaviour for Learning' school. Our aim is to inspire students to succeed, foster high expectations and prepare them for positive participation within society.
Your opportunity:
To collaboratively develop and implement a proactive and preventative Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework at Harlaxton State School. This framework will integrate data-driven decision-making and evidence-based instructional practices to maximise student success. The approach will be strengths-based, focusing on leveraging the unique abilities and potential of every student to foster academic, behavioural, and social-emotional growth.
- Working within the Instructional Leadership Team model, assist the principal to lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Develop a Proactive and Preventative Framework
- Establish a school-wide MTSS framework that supports all students through a tiered approach.
- Focus on early identification and intervention to address academic, behavioural, and social-emotional needs.
- Integrate Data and Instruction
- Use data to inform decision-making, monitor student progress, and guide instructional practices.
- Ensure that interventions are evidence-based and tailored to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Foster a Strengths-Based Approach
- Build on students' strengths and capabilities to promote engagement and success.
- Create a positive and inclusive school culture that values diversity and supports well-being.
- Collaborate with Staff
- Engage staff in the co-design and implementation of the MTSS framework.
- Provide professional development to build staff capacity in delivering tiered supports.
- Maximise Student Success
- Improve academic outcomes, enhance social-emotional skills, and reduce behavioural challenges.
- Ensure equitable access to high-quality education for all students, including those with diverse learning needs.
