About Us
Cecil Plains State School opened in 1898 (the secondary department in 1966) and enjoys a long history of community involvement. Many of the children are 3rd and even 4th generation students. The strong community support for the school is reflected in a wide range of formal and informal activities. In 2023, we celebrated the 125th year of the school with many past, present staff, students and community members.
The school caters for a wide range of abilities and personal expectations. It meets this challenge by utilising the services of professional staff and specialist support teachers.
The school provides educational programs from Preparatory to Year 9, catering for students from town and rural backgrounds. After Year 9, most students continue with formal senior education at a school of their choice.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to lead curriculum, teaching and learning across Prep to Year 9, building staff capability, strengthening evidence-based teaching practices and driving improved student outcomes. With a strong commitment to inclusive education, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring curriculum delivery is responsive to the diverse learning needs of all students, providing appropriate challenge, support and opportunities for every learner to succeed.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Lead relevant curriculum areas or whole-school programs in developing and implementing a shared educational vision focused on achieving high-quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Promote inclusive, equitable and socially just practices while establishing and maintaining high expectations for student achievement, staff performance and professional standards.
- Demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning, continuous professional development and reflective practice to enhance teaching, learning and leadership effectiveness.
- Build and sustain collaborative partnerships with students, parents, government agencies and community groups to support student engagement, wellbeing and educational outcomes.
- Apply strategic, future-focused leadership by ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies, particularly those relating to students and staff, and effectively managing human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources to achieve program and school priorities.
