The role
The Department of Health is seeking a strategic clinical leader to join eHealth Queensland as the Chief Clinical Information Officer. This executive role provides high-level clinical leadership and advice to drive the digital health agenda across Queensland Health.
Reporting to the Deputy Director-General, eHealth Queensland, and operating as a member of the eHealth Queensland Executive Management Team, the successful candidate will lead the development, implementation, and governance of clinical ICT initiatives that enhance patient safety, clinical workflows, and healthcare delivery.
The Chief Clinical Information Officer will also represent Queensland Health on national committees, lead statewide digital health strategies, and oversee the Office of the Chief Clinical Information Officer (OCCIO), a team of over 40 professionals dedicated to advancing clinical informatics.
The Successful Person
The successful person will be a proven senior clinical leader with:
- Extensive experience in healthcare information technology and digital health strategy.
- Proven ability to lead large-scale ICT programs and influence clinical practice improvements.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills across complex systems and jurisdictions.
- Deep understanding of ICT governance, clinical safety, and risk management.
- A collaborative and strategic mindset with a commitment to health equity, especially for First Nations peoples.
About the Division
eHealth Queensland advises on state-wide eHealth innovation, strategy, planning, standards, architecture and governance and is responsible for delivering clinical, corporate and infrastructure ICT programs and services in line with the Queensland Health vision and investment priorities; providing modern ICT infrastructure and customer support for desktop, mobile, smart devices, telehealth, data centres, network and security. eHealth Queensland also provides data repositories and data services for the health system.
eHealth reports to the Director-General, providing governance of clinical, corporate and infrastructure ICT programs and services within the established Queensland Health entity, while enhancing engagement with the recipients of these services, particularly, the Hospital and Health Services.
Located within eHealth Queensland is the Chief Clinical Information Officer who provides strategic and clinical leadership to drive digital enablement, in a fit for purpose and clinically safe way, for Queensland Health.
