The role
The Deputy Director-General leads the Corporate Services Division, providing system-level leadership across a diverse set of functions. This includes oversight of financial management frameworks and systems, workforce operations and strategy, legal and procurement services, departmental governance and government communications. The role is accountable for delivering effective and compliant corporate services to support service delivery across Queensland's health system.
The position also contributes to whole-of-system strategy and decision-making, supports the development of organisational capability, and plays a role in managing system risks, industrial relations and cultural initiatives. A key aspect of the role is working collaboratively with Hospital and Health Services, Queensland Government agencies and other stakeholders.
The Successful Person
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:
- Deep expertise in financial management, industrial relations, legal, human resources, strategic communications and governance in complex systems, preferably in government or healthcare
- A strategic and systems thinker with the ability to lead large, multifaceted teams and drive outcomes across devolved and complex environments
- A track record of high-level engagement with executive peers, government stakeholders and unions, and the ability to influence across system boundaries
- Strong capability in risk, culture, and performance management with a focus on accountability, equity and continuous improvement
- A values-led leadership style aligned with Queensland's public service values and a commitment to First Nations health equity and workforce inclusion
About the Division
Corporate Services Division (CSD) provides contemporary expert advice and specialist corporate services to the department and Hospital and Health Services, including human resources policy and advice; system-level finance products and transactional services; risk, assurance and information management expertise; strategic legal and administrative legal services; authoritative strategic and operational communications; and supports the largest and most complex workforce management, payroll, business, finance solutions in the Queensland public sector. CSD is also responsible for ensuring resilient procurement services.
