The role: 

The role of a Senior Project Officer is to deliver, monitor and report on various work packages and project activities against agreed criteria and governance standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Follow defined service quality standards, occupational health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe, services and workplaces.
  • Manage the definition, documentation, and successful completion of multiple large-scale ICT projects in line with Queensland Health's project management methodologies.
  • Promote and ensure use of appropriate project management techniques, methodologies, and tools, including benefits realisation and risk and issue management, to ensure quality project outcomes are delivered in line with Queensland Health Policy.
  • Manage, monitor, and report on project related trends and performance against project plans and schedules.
  • Establish and maintain procedures relating to project procurement processes.
  • Manage the support function of the various Program and Project governance groups.
  • Prepare and provide key Program and Project artefacts to a high standard.
  • Monitor resources and expenditure within the agreed work package budgets against the project forecasts.
  • Undertake risk and issues identification, assessment and mitigation activities by ensuring risks and issues are documented, reviewed and escalated as appropriate.
  • Initiate, influence and maintain relationships with and between internal and external stakeholders, facilitates effective communications and fosters relationships through lessons learned, feedback mechanisms and management of expectations.

Is this opportunity for you?

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience in an IM/ICT project environment, including secretariat support, artefact writing, planning, risk management, reporting and, budgeting across the project delivery lifecycle.
  • Knowledge and application of appropriate project management methodologies (preferably PRINCE2), and an ability to provide sound advice and recommendations on the use of appropriate project management techniques, methodologies and tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage one or more defined communication channels and/or stakeholder groups, and facilitate the business change decision-making processes, and the planning and implementation of change.
  • Proven effective consultation, facilitation, written and oral communication skills for the use management of governance bodies in a complex program/project environment.
  • Demonstrated analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills and a proven ability to work in a team environment developing effective working relationships with team members.
