We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Project Officer who is able to apply their communication, analytical and relationship management skills to work collaboratively within a fast-paced team. You will provide support and guidance on the application of appropriate governance and risk and issue management practices across multiple large ICT programs and projects within eHealth Queensland. Essential to this role will be your commitment to building strong relationships with stakeholders responsible for the delivery and implementation of digital/ICT projects and programs.

The role:  

The ideal candidate will have high attention to detail and be driven by a desire to improve healthcare outcomes.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Provide risk/issue advice, review, and challenge Program Directors and Project Managers to ensure risks and issues are being managed in alignment with the Delivery Services Branch project governance and operational risk frameworks.
  • Ensure consistent project risk and governance processes are implemented across programs and projects and that risks are accurately reported to governance bodies. 
  • Collaborate with operational and delivery areas to undertake risk profiling and risk identification for programs and projects and that risks are managed and reported effectively.
  • Review project and operational risk/issue registers to validate that risks and issues are appropriately described, rated, and mitigated; and that risks and issues are actively tracked and managed.
  • Lead efforts to increase the maturity of risk and issue management practices across the project portfolio, promoting continuous improvement in risk and issue awareness and mitigation strategies. 
  • Undertake data and trend analysis and develop timely, accurate and meaningful reports relating to the overall risk and governance profile.
  • Produce monthly delivery risk profile reports to peak governing bodies, providing a view of the overall risk landscape across the portfolio, supporting executive stakeholders to understand the collective risks, trends, areas of concern, mitigation efforts and any changes in risk status over time.
  • Support the development and enhancement of risk and issue management and governance frameworks, processes and other resources.
  • Provide support in coordinating, managing and reporting audit outcomes.
  • Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with QPS values as outlined above.
  • Follow defined service quality standards, occupational health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe, services and workplaces.
  • Other priorities as required by management in line with the governance and risk function.

Are you right for this role?

This role requires experience in the provision of support to large scale, complex IM/ICT programs and projects, specifically in the themes of governance, risk and issue management and reporting.

Your well-developed analytical and communication skills and an eye for detail, will enable you to effectively liaise with both internal and external stakeholders regarding the application of the project delivery framework, governance framework, risk management framework and supporting tools and templates.

Knowledge

  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills.
  • Advanced stakeholder management experience.
  • Experience in a similar role providing services to a large and complex delivery portfolio.
  • Experience working within either the Government or Health sectors.
  • Knowledge of program and project management governance structures and roles.
  • Knowledge of sound risk management processes and practices.
  • Qualifications and professional certifications in one or more of the following fields will be highly desirable:
    • P3 management, e.g. Prince2®, Managing Successful Programmes (MSP)®, Portfolio/Programme/Project Office (P3O)®
