We are looking for a Senior Operations Specialist to join the Enterprise Technology Services Branch on a permanent, full-time basis. The successful candidate will ensure compliance and optimal performance of enterprise service levels by managing and performing the dissemination and implementation of policies, processes and standards for technical configuration of the enterprise infrastructure.

The purpose of the role is to ensure the maintenance of defined service levels for specific enterprise applications by providing customer focused service delivery management, high level specialist advice and support.

How you will be assessed

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following key capabilities, knowledge and experience. Within the context of the responsibilities described above under ‘Key Responsibilities', the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Ability in the leadership of a highly skilled technical team, building and sustaining positive relationships with peer teams, stakeholders and customers. (NHS Leading change through people)(SFIA Code: RLMT 5)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and promote Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) processes based on the ITIL framework, primarily incident / problem / change / release / configuration management. (SFIA Code: ITMG 6, USUP 5; CHMG 5)
  • Well-developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills including the ability to negotiate, advise, influence others and work collaboratively with people to make decisions. (NHS Effective and Strategic influencing - SFIA Code RLMT 5)
  • Proven ability to meet service delivery targets and implement quantifiable service improvements by managing workloads, priorities and working unsupervised (NHS Drive for Results)
  • Anticipates and is responsive to customer and stakeholder needs and expectations; takes personal responsibility for meeting objectives and progressing work; shows initiative and does what is required. (NHS Collaborative Working & Drive for Improvement)
  • High level of expertise and experience in the following technology domains to analyse, provide technical direction, standardisation, professional advice and support of enterprise ICT services in a large customer focus organisation
    • Microsoft Windows Server 2012, 2016, 2019 and 2022 (OS and Hardware)
    • Active Directory/DNS/DHCP/Group Policy
    • Microsoft Clustering
    • Web Server technologies (IIS 6, 7, 7.5, Apache)
    • Citrix (current version)
    • Scripting technologies (VBscript, PowerShell)
    • Virtualisation (vSphere)

Specific Working Conditions:

  • This position may be may be required to work at different sites.
