Take the next step in your career with this exciting opportunity within eHealth. We're seeking an experienced Rhapsody Developer to design, build, and maintain middleware integrations that support our health messaging systems. You'll work with Rhapsody, enterprise databases (Oracle/SQL Server) and modern integration architectures (e.g. REST, SOAP) to deliver the solution. You will also interact heavily with our .NET/React developers who maintain several user portals the system leverages. The position will also ensue the maintenance of defined service levels for specific enterprise applications by providing customer focused service delivery management, high level specialist advice and support.

What you'll do  

  • Provide technical software development skills in the analysis of ICT system issues and the design, development, testing and deployment of appropriate solutions.
  • Provide a lead role in the promotion of software developer best practice covering development, architecture, security and testing.
  • Application of agile development methodology to consistently release product updates.
  • Support for innovation enabled by digital solutions
  • Maintain and manage effective working relationships and engage with other key operational teams.
  • Liaise, consult and negotiate with stakeholders, customers and internal IT teams as part of the process of developing and delivering software solutions, identifying and communicating benefits, risks and issues for solution and/or options

About you  

We are searching for someone who:  

  • Proven experience in the development and support of systems/applications in a large organisation, with at least 3 years' experience using recent versions of:
    • Rhapsody (or other health-related middleware)
    • HL7
    • Oracle SQL
    • JavaScript
    • Architectural patterns such as REST, SOAP, Service-Oriented Architectures, and integration architectures
  • Desirable experience (noting the role is primarily focused on Rhapsody development):
    • Development of .NET (C#) applications
    • Development of Java based backend systems (only minor desirability)
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Software development best practices, including DevOps and Git
    • Software design patterns
    • Security best practices in software development
  • Well-developed interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with the ability to present and promote realistic software solutions that meet stakeholder and customer needs
  • Proven ability to:
    • Meet service delivery targets
    • Implement measurable service improvements
    • Manage workloads and priorities effectively, including working unsupervised (NHS Drive for Results)
