The QBCC is seeking a dedicated Project Manager to support the continuing implementation of a new Mediation and Conciliation Unit—part of a key reform aligned with Recommendation 2 of the QBCC Governance Review. In this role, you’ll be responsible for driving the development and delivery of a comprehensive implementation plan, including timelines, planning and procedural documents, and coordination schedules. Your work will contribute to the continuing development of effective, fair and efficient mediation and conciliation services for building disputes improving dispute resolution outcomes for all stakeholders and supporting industry confidence. This position is based in Brisbane and the successful candidate will have the option to engage in a work from home arrangement that suits the team under an approved Flexible Work Arrangement.

Temporary Opportunity: 6 Months

Expressions of interest are invited for the temporary role of Project Manager within the Mediation and Conciliation unit. This AO8 level position reports directly to the Director Mediation and Conciliation.

Candidate Attributes

  1. Demonstrated project management experience and proven ability to successfully drive, coordinate and implement large, complex projects using a collaborative, transparent, contemporary approach Extensive experience in coordinating the delivery of multiple concurrent technical projects.
  2. Excellent stakeholder engagement, interpersonal, and communications skills (both written and verbal). Ability to communicate and elicit cooperation at all levels, including technical staff, management, and external parties Excellent negotiation, report writing and presentation skills. Persuasive, encouraging and motivating.
  3. Possess well developed time management skills and demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and a diverse range of activities, with conflicting priorities, and meet deadlines. Ability to drive meetings and effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities Reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently.
  4. Motivates individuals and creates a culture where people want to 'go the extra mile'. Focuses strongly on the achievement of results and builds a cohesive and supportive team environment. Experienced in people and team management and can work independently and/or in a team­ orientated collaborative environment. Ability to defuse tension among the project team and/or project stakeholders.
