Social Worker - Bentley Park College

Bentley Park College is seeking applicants for a newly formed Social Work position in their Secondary Wellbeing Workforce Team.
This role sits within a greater regional multidisciplinary Wellbeing Workforce, which provides evidence-informed therapeutic intervention, and targeted mental health and wellbeing supports to students and their families.
This position includes regular access to individual and peer supervision, as well as other learning and professional development opportunities.
This role will complement the existing Social Worker in our Primary Sector.
This position is being offered in a Temporary Part-Time capacity (0.58FTE), 42 hours per fortnight.

This is a progressional position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the lower classification with eligibility for progression to the next, once specific criteria have been met or demonstrated. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of both classification ranges.

Bentley Park College is a state school in the south of Cairns that offers the advantage of a complete Prep to Year 12 education.
First opening its gates in 1997, it comprises Primary and Secondary Sectors, including a Special Education Program, on one of the largest school sites in Queensland.

Step Into Your Next Chapter:
- Undertake individual and group counselling with students, parents and families to assist them in resolving personal or relationship concerns.
- Provide professional social welfare assessments, interventions and follow up support to students, parents/carers and individuals as required.
- Identify needs and participate in the referral and planning of services for children, parents and families to community agencies such as health and welfare.
- Develop and implement strategies to provide information, support and encourage awareness of, and participation by, parents/carers and the community in school activities and programs.
- Act as the contact for parents/carers and the community to determine relevant issues for improved relationships between the school and community.
