A dedicated and collaborative leader is sought to join our dynamic leadership team working across our Weipa Secondary Campus as the Head of Department.

As the Head of Department (Technology), you will take key responsibility for the curriculum delivery in all our Technology subjects as well as the role of RTO Manager, along with manage the activities of students and teachers in line with the College's vision and values.

About the Western Cape College:

The Western Cape College is a unique state school with two campuses located in Mapoon (P-6), and Weipa (P-12), as well as a secondary residential facility also located in Weipa. Each Campus is set in its own amazing cultural, social and geographical environment, spread over a vast area of the Cape York Peninsula in Far North Queensland.

The Position:

As the Head of Department (Technology), you will play a vital role in developing the quality of teaching and learning, development of a positive culture within the Weipa Secondary Campus and developing solid strategic practices for managing resources to achieve positive student learning outcomes.

The successful candidate should have a strong knowledge of, and capacity to lead the implementation of both the Australian Curriculum and the QCAA curriculum in Technology. An ability to build and sustain productive relationships with all stakeholders is vital.

As the Head of Department (Technology), you will have responsibility for (but not limited to) the following:

  • Lead the school department to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Undertake the school RTO manager role
