We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Workplace Health and Safety Advisor to play a pivotal role in fostering a safe, healthy, and supportive working environment within our school community. This position offers the opportunity to coordinate and deliver workplace health and safety services that protect and support staff while promoting a positive safety culture.

This is a Temporary Part-Time position (0.2 FTE) until 11 December 2026, unless otherwise determined.

Your Role

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide expert advice to school leadership on workplace health and safety, risk management, hazard identification, accident prevention, environmental issues, and the wellbeing of students, staff, contractors, and visitors.
  • Conduct proactive workplace inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits to identify hazards, evaluate workplace conditions, ensure compliance with legislative requirements, and implement effective control measures.
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver workplace health and safety training programs that promote awareness, strengthen safety culture, and support compliance with departmental policies, procedures, and legislation.
  • Lead and support the school's Workplace Health and Safety Committee by organising meetings, performing secretariat functions, facilitating professional development opportunities, providing regular reports, and maintaining effective communication on safety initiatives and emergency procedures.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor workplace health and safety systems, policies, procedures, risk assessments, emergency response plans, and compliance processes to ensure the ongoing effectiveness of the school's safety program.
  • Investigate and report on workplace incidents, injuries, illnesses, and dangerous events; compile health and safety data for internal reviews; and liaise with management, WorkCover representatives, and rehabilitation stakeholders to support return-to-work and injury management programs.
