An opportunity has arisen for a highly accomplished leader OR a capable aspiring leader to continue their leadership journey as the Head of Campus of St Pauls Campus (Moa Island), Tagai State College.

Language and cultural activities play an integral part in the school curriculum. The College is seeking a highly effective instructional leader who is capable of enacting and monitoring the Explicit Improvement agenda. Tagai State College provides a high level of support to leaders through a support team of experienced educators.

This position is being offered as an Expression of Interest, backfilling the current HOC who has been seconded to a project position within the College, until 4 December 2026 unless otherwise determined.

About us:

Tagai State College is made up of 17 campuses spread across 48,000 square kilometres of ocean in the Torres Strait. Separate primary and secondary campuses are located on Thursday Island. The remaining 16 campuses are on islands a short ferry, plane or helicopter ride from Thursday or Horn Islands.

St Pauls is accessible by boat or plane via the Kubin airstrip - approximately 20 minutes' drive south from the community. Currently with an enrolment of 36 students across Kindy - year 6, the school sits in the town of St Pauls, which is located on the north-eastern side of the island at the base of Moa Peak.

Your opportunity:

As the Head of Campus you will:

  • deliver the vision of the department
  • improve the educational outcomes of students in their schools
  • develop the quality of teaching and learning
  • nurture positive relationships between students, teachers, the community and stakeholders.

The Head of Campus at St Pauls is a teaching Head of campus. The suitable applicant must be able to demonstrate capability to meet the accountabilities of a quality teacher and have demonstrated leadership capability to lead a Campus in alignment with the College strategic agenda.

Responsibility:

  • Lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Uphold the principalship as a values based, ethical and moral activity.
  • Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Active participants in life long learning and ongoing professional development.
  • Form partnerships with parents, other government agencies, community groups, industry and business.
  • Futures oriented and strategic.
  • Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling.
  • Manage resources to achieve goals.
