The Role

An opportunity has become available for several Clinical Nurses (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Currently be working in or have recent level 6 neonatal intensive care with advanced clinical expertise
  • Required to care for the sickest most vulnerable infants and support less experienced nurses
  • Operationally managing the shift and staff in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Support the nursing and medical team to provide the essential care of sick or premature infants

 About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent  
  • Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

  • Permanent fulltime, Permanent part time – Minimum 48 hours p.f
  • Base salary ranging from $104,816 - $112,236 per annum, $52.86 - $56.60 per hour

About Us

The Newborn Care Unit at Gold Coast University Hospital is part of Women, Newborn and Children's Services and is comprised of a 12-cot Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and a 24-cot Special Care Nursery. The NICU admits babies fulfilling Level 6 Queensland Clinical Services Capability Framework criteria which includes but is not limited to:

  • Extremely preterm infants from 23 weeks gestation
  • Parenteral Nutrition
  • Nitric Oxide therapy
  • Exchange transfusions
  • Therapeutic cooling and Amplitude integrated electroencephalography (aEEG)
  • Neonatal surgical procedures (excluding cardiac surgery and complex surgical conditions which are managed at Mater Mother's or Queensland Children's Hospital)
  • Invasive and non-invasive respiratory support including High Frequency Oscillatory Ventilation
