About Geriatric Evaluation and Management / Acute Cognitive Unit
The Geriatric Evaluation and Management Unit (GEM) provides comprehensive care for older patients, offering multidisciplinary support for both clinical issues functional rehabilitation which also includes an Acute Cognitive Unit (ACU) dedicated to managing patients living with dementia and experiencing severe Behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD), providing a highly structured environment with psychogeriatric support.
About your new role
As a valued member of the GEM and ACU team, you will deliver comprehensive, person-centred, and evidence-based care within a supportive, multidisciplinary environment. Your focus will be on promoting the wellbeing of older adults by partnering closely with patients and their families to reduce the impact of hospitalisation and improve quality of life. This includes
- Managing workload to deliver high level nutrition and dietetic services
- Applying professional judgement to complex caseloads adapting routine clinical practice
- Identifying and contributing to the development of evidence based clinical practices/guidelines, procedures, protocols and education materials
- Undertaking high level nutrition and dietetic duties with a high degree of independence within the work unit
Qualifications
- A tertiary degree (or equivalent) in Nutrition and Dietetics
- Eligibility for membership of the Dietitians Association of Australia and accredited practising Dietitian (apd) credential
- Blue Card/Working with children check (GCH will cover cost)
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
- Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
- Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary
- Permanent part time (53.2 hours per fortnight)
- Base salary ranging from $64.64 - $69.55 per hour
