The Role
An opportunity has become available for two Compliance Officers to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will
- Take appropriate enforcement action against persons found to be contravening public health legislation
- Interpret legislation, regulations and other guidance material relating to the operations and functions of the Unit
- Keep up to date with technical, legal and procedural developments that may impact on the role
- Undertake joint investigation and enforcement action with partners
About you
To be successful in this position you will require:
- While not mandatory, a relevant qualification in regulation, policing or environmental health would be well regarded
- Certificate IV in Government Investigations (or be willing to complete)
- The position holder will be required to complete Queensland Health Authorised Officer training
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
- Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
- Driver Licence
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
- Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary
- Temporary full time (two positions, two years)
- Base salary ranging from $103 423 - $110 201 per annum

The aim of the Gold Coast Public Health Unit and the public health program it administers, is to manage risks to the health and wellbeing of the community by promoting and protecting health, and preventing disease. The Unit provides a person and population focused response to communicable and non-communicable diseases, and environmental health hazards, by undertaking risk assessments, delivering immunisation services, health surveillance, prevention programs, public health incident response and monitoring and enforcing public health legislation.
