The primary focus of this role is to deliver high level occupational therapy clinical services and leadership within the Homeless Health Outreach Team and within the occupational therapy professional group of Mental Health and Specialist Services.

An opportunity has become available for an Occupational Therapist - Senior (Mental Health - Homeless Health Outreach Team) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

 You will

• Deliver high level, complex evidence-based occupational therapy clinical services within the multidisciplinary team
• Deliver high level generic mental health services including assessment, treatment interventions and case management
• Conduct outreach into the community to provide support to homeless individuals in areas that are known to them such as emergency food venues, public spaces and crisis support locations
• Provide clinical leadership within the multidisciplinary team and may step up to cover the team leader role if team leader is absent

 About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

• A tertiary degree in Occupational Therapy
• AHPRA Registration
• Driver Licence
• Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
• Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
• Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
• Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

• Permanent part time (53.20 hrs p.f)
• Base salary ranging from $64.64 - $69.55 per hour

 About Us

The Homeless Health Outreach Team (HHOT) provides services to people who are chronically homeless with complex needs and diverse value systems and are unable to access standard health services. While there is a strong focus on mental health and drug and alcohol issues, general health issues will be within the scope of this team. This team will work closely with non-government services and other local and state government services that engage in providing services to consumers. The Homeless Health Outreach Team is a seven day per week extended hours service.
