An opportunity has become available for a Nurse Unit Manager (Mental Health - Waratah Inpatient Unit)

to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 10 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

• Be accountable for the monitoring, coordinating and management of the cost centre's operational budget
• Be responsible for the coordinating and leadership of human resources
• Be responsible and accountable for the monitoring, responding to, coordination and implementation of environmental needs of the unit
• Apply the principles of best practice, education, leadership and portfolio management
• Deal positively and effectively with unpredictable, challenging or change management situations

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

• A Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
• Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia  
• Credentialed through the College of Mental Health Nurses (or be prepared to work towards a credential in Mental Health Nursing) 
• A Masters or higher qualification within a relevant area is highly desirable
• Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pertussis (Whooping Cough), Hepatitis B
• Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
• Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed

• Base salary ranging from $132 562 - $143 924 per annum

About Us

Waratah Unit is a 16 bed inpatient ward that provides specialised mental health care. It offers two pathways of care for mental health consumers. The Short Stay Pathway for adult consumers presenting with a mental health crisis this is likely to resolve within 72hrs with intense support and the Extended Care Pathway for consumers requiring an extended period of time and more exploration of treatment modalities and supports to resolve. The core principles embedded in all aspects of this model of service include trauma informed care, zero suicide, approach to resistant elimination and Integrated Mental health and Alcohol and Other Drugs interventions.
