About Us
The Cognitive Support Beds (CSB) provides specialised care for patients who are medically unwell and present with moderate to high severity behavioural symptoms, often associated with cognitive impairment or dementia. Patients admitted to CSB will remain under the care of the primary treating team, typically General Medicine, with their medical needs addressed alongside their behavioural and psychological symptoms.
The unit is supported by the Specialist Psychogeriatric Consultative Service, which offers expert guidance to enhance the delivery of person-centred, safe, and responsive care for this complex patient cohort. Staff working within or supporting the CSB unit are expected to collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to manage both the physical and cognitive health needs of patients.
