The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Senior Director (Assurance and Advisory Services) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Contribute to strategic planning, reviews, and risk/compliance activities
  • Ensure audits comply with standards, ethics, legislation, and frameworks
  • Maintain independence, reporting to Audit and Risk Committee and Executive Director
  • Lead and review the three-year Strategic and Annual Internal Audit Plans

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • Tertiary qualification in accounting, auditing, commerce, business, or a related field
  • Membership (or eligibility for membership) with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants ANZ, or equivalent professional body
  • Demonstrated experience in leading internal audit functions within large, complex organisations, preferably in the public or health sector
  • Detailed knowledge of internal audit standards, ethical codes, risk management frameworks, and relevant legislation including the Financial Accountability Act 2009 (Qld)
  • High-level skills in conducting complex audits, preparing quality audit reports, and presenting to executive and board-level committees
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

  • Permanent full time
  • Base salary ranging from $174 339 - $188 056 per annum
