The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Senior Health Lawyer to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Support Principal Lawyers within Gold Coast Hospital and Health Legal Services
  • Provide legal advice across health law, medico-legal, and related areas
  • Review statements for police, criminal, and litigation matters
  • Prepare/review documents for investigations under the Hospital and Health Boards Act 2011

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • Tertiary degree in Law
  • Admission to practice as a Legal Practitioner in Queensland
  • While not mandatory, significant post admission experience (or agreed equivalent) gained within a similar field environment is highly desirable
  • Proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association within Australia
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

  • Temporary full time (up to twelve months, with possibility of extension)
  • Base salary ranging from $136 035 - $145 990 per annum
