The Role

An opportunity has become available for several Clinical Nurses join Gold Coast Health (GCH) Mental Health Crisis Stabilisation Unit (CSU) where our team provides an integrated, trauma focussed and contemporary mental health service to over 550,000 people and their families living in the Gold Coast.

You will

  • Manage a portfolio consistent with skill level and level of practice and contribute to multidisciplinary and discipline specific projects
  • Undertaking clinical assessment, management/treatment planning, clinical interventions, to support a comprehensive assessment including physical health needs and recovery-based care with a focus on discharge
  • Coordinating the treatment planning, interventions, implementation and evaluation of therapeutic programs and support services
  • Establishing and maintaining partnerships with consumers and their family/carers

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • A Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
  • Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Credentialed through the College of Mental Health Nurses (or be prepared to work towards a credential in Mental Health Nursing)
  • A Masters or higher qualification within a relevant area is highly desirable
  • Driver Licence
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

  • Permanent full time and permanent part time (one full time position and one part time position, 24 hrs p.f.)
  • Base salary ranging from $107 960 - $115 604 per annum, $54.44 - $58.30 per hour

About Us

The Mental Health Crisis Stabilisation Unit (CSU) provides consumers presenting with a mental health crisis/illness a safe, supportive environment for acute mental health assessment, treatment, and management, including a range of short-term options tailored to meet individual needs. The CSU will work closely in collaboration with the MHSS, specifically the Mental Health Acute Care Team (ACT) located at Robina Hospital and is designed to provide a safe and therapeutic environment in the provision of specialised acute service for consumers aged over 18 years. This 12-chair facility with a higher level of nursing and a multidisciplinary team, input to acute mental health care for consumers in mental health crisis.
