Gold Coast Health is seeking 2 dedicated Compliance Officers to join the Gold Coast Public Health Unit temporary full-time role (up to 18 months, with possibility of extension). Working under the guidance of Environmental Health Officers, this position plays a vital role in administering public health legislation. You'll assist with inspections, enforcement actions, and evidence collection to support a healthier Gold Coast community.

About your new team
The Gold Coast Public Health Unit delivers services including:
- Environmental health monitoring and enforcement
- Communicable disease control
- Health promotion and education
- Public health incident and disaster response
You'll be part of a team that includes experienced and emerging professionals who support each other, share knowledge, and foster innovation. The Unit is known for its collaborative approach and leadership in public health enforcement across Queensland.
What you'll be doing
As a Compliance Officer, you will:
- Conduct routine compliance inspections and assist with targeted enforcement
- Serve statutory notices and penalty infringement notices where appropriate
- Gather evidence, prepare reports and briefs, and attend court hearings
- Undertake joint investigations with other State and Federal regulatory agencies
- Collect samples and maintain accurate records in databases and other electronic systems
- Contribute to intelligence gathering and evaluation of public health interventions

Requirements for the role
- While not mandatory, a relevant qualification in regulation, policing or environmental health would be well regarded
- Have or be willing to complete a Certificate IV in Government Investigations
- Be willing to complete Queensland Health Authorised Officer training
- Current driver's licence and ability to operate a government vehicle
- Must be physically fit as the role includes lifting and carrying
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
- Tuberculosis screening, to identify if tuberculosis vaccination may be required
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
- Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (paid by GCH)

Salary
- Temporary full time (two positions, up to 18 months with possibility of extension)
- Base salary ranging from $103 423 - $110 201 per annum
