About us:
Gladstone Hospital is a 70-bed hospital and offers a range of general and specialist inpatient and outpatient services including Emergency, General Medicine and Surgery, basic Orthopaedic, Clinical Investigation, Obstetrics, Maternity, Gynaecology, High Dependency and Coronary Care, Palliative care, Medical Imaging, Pathology, and Paediatrics. Additional services include Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Service, Oral Health, Physiotherapy, Dietetics, Speech Pathology, and outreach/community-based facilities, as well as a Primary Health Care Centre located at Boyne Valley. Gladstone Hospital has approximately 282 full-time equivalent staff delivering services across Acute, Community and Primary care.
About the role:
The SMO is required to assist the Clinical Lead and Director of Medical Services in:
- Ensuring that Specialist Obstetrics and Gynaecology services provided by Gladstone Hospital are of the highest standard and delivered in an efficient and effective manner given available resources.
- The education and supervision of trainees, junior medical staff, medical students, midwives, and other health practitioners including nursing staff.
- The day-to-day management of Obstetrics and Gynaecology services including active participation in patient safety, clinical audit, investigation and management of adverse clinical incidents and complaints, research, and service planning activities.
About you:
- Mandatory qualification/s: MBBS or equivalent eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (DRANZCOG) (advanced).
- Non-mandatory qualifications/requirements: While not mandatory, the following qualifications would be well regarded:
- General Practice Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) or
- Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) or
- Evidence of acceptance as an Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) or Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) trainee.
- Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Current Obstetric Emergency Management, RANZCOG FSE accreditation and Advanced Neo Resuscitation training.
- Enrolment and maintenance of ongoing CME program of appropriate College.

Salary information:
Total remuneration value of up to $458,574 p.a. is comprised of:
- An annual rate between $182,106 - $251,527 p.a.
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
