Role Details
- Deliver specialised clinical pharmacy and consultancy services in paediatric medicine, including a clinical caseload with the provision of clinical advice and direction to pharmacy staff and students. Specialised areas of clinical service will include (but not limited to) respiratory medicine, cystic fibrosis, renal replacement therapy, neurology and emergency medicine.
- Provide professional leadership in the facilitation of research and the systematic pursuit and practical application of valid and reliable evidence to support quality clinical practice and the development and review of treatment protocols and related service procedures that support the continuum of care, high standards of care and optimal clinical outcomes for patients.
- Work collaboratively and engage in effective communications with clinical service providers, service managers and clinical team leaders to facilitate early access to Pharmacy services and support effective service delivery, appropriate discharge, good clinical outcomes and stakeholder satisfaction.
- Provide specialist clinical advice regarding pharmaceutical services to medical patients to clinical service providers, service managers and health care consumers.
- Advocate for and provide authoritative counsel regarding operational processes, initiatives and delivery standards of the Medical Pharmacy service to senior managers and other internal and external stakeholders.
- Actively pursue further relevant professional development and take a lead role in the development and delivery of relevant competency training and skill development programs targeted at less experienced pharmacists and assistant staff; pharmacy interns, pharmacy students.
- Work in partnership with the Director of Pharmacy to plan, develop, operationalise and coordinate Medical Pharmacy services taking responsibility for day to day management of specific team.
- Lead service evaluation and quality improvement changes within the Medical Pharmacy service.
- Contribute to strategic planning and direction primarily at service and district level through active representation at service management meetings and participation in relevant projects, committees and clinical networks.
