About the Team
Private Practice team are responsible for all billing against doctor provider numbers for patients who have been seen privately in outpatients (bulk-billed to Medicare) or as inpatients (invoiced to private health insurance). They are also responsible for identification of billing opportunities through reviewing insured patient records.
About the Role
- Ensure compliance of all relevant legislation, policies and procedures within a financial environment. Such as the Financial Management Practice Manual (FMPM);
- Demonstrate knowledge, or ability to acquire knowledge, of recognised policies, procedures and legislative requirements relating to Private Practice arrangements and billing compliance including the Rights of Private Practice and Medicare Benefits Schedule;
- Demonstrate knowledge and experience of revenue and corporate patient information and billing systems such as MediRecords, HBCIS, ieMR, and ESM;
- Ensure high standard of service is provided to all clients internal and external within acceptable timeframes as required in a confidential manner;
- Liaise with patients and their representatives, referring doctors, Health Insurance Commission (HIC), health insurance funds, Work Cover and any person to whom or from whom service is provided or received, ensuring we provide the best service possible to our patients and their support people.
- Ensure day to day decision making and problem-solving techniques are applied to matters arising from daily billing activities and are focused upon achieving quality outcomes in accordance with HIC and Queensland Health guidelines.
- Assist in the development, implementation, review and maintenance of internal systems, processes and work practices providing feedback on recommendations for improvements to the Team Leader – Private Practice Revenue;
- Complete general administration duties including telephone and email enquiries, filing, photocopying, data entry, and any other duties as directed;
- Prioritise workloads utilising time management principles to meet deadlines with high standards and attention to detail;
- Ensure patients and other staff are treated fairly and with mutual respect and understanding, regardless of cultural, religious, ethnic and linguistic backgrounds;
