Senior Financial Accountant

We're looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to join our team at Children's Health Queensland (CHQ). In this role, you'll be instrumental in managing our financial accounting reconciliations and contributing to our financial reporting. You'll also provide expert guidance on accounting policies and help develop and maintain our financial reporting systems. About the Team
The Financial Control and Assurance team is responsible for ensuring CHQ's financial records, systems and controls are economic, effective, efficient and compliant with relevant policies, procedures or standards. It is also responsible for the preparation of annual Statutory Financial Statements and leading the Financial Management Assurance program.
About the Role
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation and accounting standards regarding financial accounting to ensure the organisation has sound financial governance and complies with all regulatory requirements.
- Maintain the integrity of the General Ledger through sound financial processes ensuring compliance with the Financial Management Practice Manual, Financial Delegations Framework, CHQ Policies, the legislation and Queensland Treasury accounting policies and guidelines, including the Financial Reporting Requirements (FRR's) and Non-Current Accounting Policies (NCAP's).
- Prepare and review required monthly financial reconciliations that underpin CHQ's Statutory Financial Statements.
- Contribute to the preparation and delivery of CHQ's Statutory Financial Statements.
- Contribute to the preparation and delivery of the Whole of Government Statutory Financial Statements including the preparation and submission of quarterly actuals.
- Contribute to the preparation and delivery of monthly financial reporting required for the CFO Board report.
- Contribute to the annual non-current assets stocktake program, annual asset useful life review and annual asset impairment review and other asset/capital related tasks as required.
- Contribute to the development and undertaking of the annual Financial Management Assurance (FMA) program including other requirements in relation to the annual CFO assurance process.
- Ensure financial statements comparative variances are investigated, understood, and reported accordingly.
- Ensure the completion of reconciliations and work papers associated with CHQ's indirect taxation responsibilities including the annual fringe benefits tax return submission to the Department of Health.
- Liaise with internal/external auditors as required as part of the completion of the Financial Statements.
