About the Role

  • Delivery of surgical services through participation in clinical duties at the Senior House Officer level and in accordance with the policies and practices of the Children's Health Service District.
  • Actively participates as a member of the multidisciplinary team by working collaboratively and effectively with other health professionals.
  • Provides effective interaction at a primary patient care level, through ensuring patients and parents/caregivers are informed about their medical care and involved in decision making.
  • Meets training requirements by actively participating in educational activities including general paediatric surgery clinical meetings; paediatric grand rounds; registrar/resident education sessions; paediatric procedural skills training; teaching ward rounds; and unit-specific and consultant-based teaching.
  • Meets assessment and professional development requirements through the completion of assessment reports in conjunction with Registrars and Consultants.
  • Provides evaluation of term placements to enable the improvement of training, education and supervision provided to Senior House Officer's.
  • Provides assistance in teaching Interns, Medical Students, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Actively participates in evidence-based practice and research.
  • Completes and maintains accurate and comprehensive medical record documentation.
  • Ensures patient confidentiality is maintained and the dignity of patients is respected.
  • Participates in the after-hours and on call rosters, as required
  • Actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resources management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, work, health and safety, and ethical behaviour.
  • Develop a positive culture within division which encourages and recognises high performance, builds leadership capabilities, and supports staff to maximise their health and wellbeing.
