Health and Wellbeing Queensland is seeking an exceptional Deputy Chief Executive Officer to partner with the Chief Executive Officer, Board and Executive Management Team to shape and deliver the organisation's strategic direction.
This senior executive role leads Corporate Operations and Policy and Strategic Communications, providing oversight of governance, financial management, resourcing and delivery while driving reform, innovation and continuous improvement in a complex and dynamic environment.
This role leads high-level stakeholder engagement across local, state and federal sectors, strengthens strategic partnerships, and provides expert advice on policy, risk, performance and organisational matters.
As a trusted public sector leader, you will help deliver government priorities and improve health and wellbeing outcomes for Queenslanders.

Your opportunity
As the Deputy Chief Executive Officer you will be involved in:
- Providing strategic leadership and direction to HWQld, ensuring organisational priorities, operations and corporate decision making are aligned with the organisation's strategic objectives and government priorities.
- Leading the Corporate Operations and Policy and Strategic Communications functions, ensuring the delivery of integrated, high-quality services across corporate services, project management, contracts, policy, executive services and strategic communications to support the wider organisation.
- Providing strategic leadership to strengthen governance, organisational performance, financial management, resourcing, accountability and service delivery across the organisation.
- Providing leadership at state and national levels to shape and influence Queensland's health and wellbeing policy, advance the organisation's policy and strategic communications objectives, and strengthen strategic relationships across key sectors.
What we are looking for
- Extensive executive leadership experience in the effective operation of an agency or public sector division, including policy, executive services and governance, organisational performance, financial management, resourcing and service delivery.
- A detailed understanding of contemporary government issues, together with significant experience in public sector governance, accountability, decision-making and administrative processes, and a strong understanding of the strategic environment in which HWQld operates.
- Highly developed strategic thinking and judgement, including the ability to identify emerging challenges and opportunities, set clear priorities, and develop and implement sustainable and innovative organisational responses.
- Demonstrated ability to provide authoritative, fit-for-purpose and evidence-informed advice tailored to Boards, chief executives, Ministers, Members of Parliament, senior executives across government, the media, and the public.
