About the role

The position delivers high quality evidence based clinical Social Work services and leadership as a member of the multidisciplinary mental health team to consumers with complex and severe mental health disorders. Care is delivered with a focus on planning and provision of clinical care and therapeutic interventions within a recovery framework.  This position also provides clinical practice and professional supervision to less experienced Social Workers to ensure the maintenance of professional clinical standards within the service.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • As a member of the multidisciplinary team, apply high level knowledge, skills and independent judgement in the assessment and management of consumers with complex needs and their families/carers in the PRCMHS catchment area, in accordance with the Australian Association of Social Workers Professional Practice Standards and Code of Ethics. 
  • Provide biopsychosocial, mental state and risk assessments, formulation, and timely Social Work interventions (individual and group) within identified models of care, including the Recovery Framework and trauma informed care, to reduce the impact of psychosocial stressors/mental illness/alcohol and drug needs on consumer's functioning and lifestyle.
  • Apply high level advocacy within the healthcare system including facilitating linkages with key agencies to address client need and ensure equity in access to services.
  • Provide high level clinical leadership and participate in the identification, development, implementation and evaluation of quality, service improvement and/or research activities that enhance the delivery of Social Work services, procedures and protocols that support the continuum of care, improve consumer care, and enhance the delivery of work unit and profession specific clinical services.
