About the role
The position delivers high quality; evidence based Occupational Therapy clinical services in the treatment of consumers with complex mental health issues, their families, carers, and relevant stakeholders, in an inpatient Crisis Stabilisation Unit (CSU) via a Short Stay pathway (SSP). This position operates as a member of an integrated, multidisciplinary mental health team with a focus on the provision of mental health crisis care and evidence-based discipline specific and/or therapeutic interventions within a recovery and trauma informed framework.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Ensure consumers, carers and other staff are treated fairly and with mutual respect and understanding, regardless of cultural, religious, ethnic, and linguistic backgrounds.
- Staff are expected to possess knowledge of, or have the ability to acquire knowledge of, principles of patient- centred care, recovery-focussed care and trauma-informed care.
- Apply a developing knowledge of mental health legislation and policy (including Mental Health Act 2016 and the National Mental Health Standards) to facilitate the delivery of coordinated and integrated services within Metro North Mental Health – The Prince Charles Hospital.
- Deliver competent level clinical services to consumers with complex mental health and alcohol and other drug treatment needs based on valid and reliable evidence, in accordance with professional practice, ethical and mental health standards to ensure culturally appropriate consumer focused outcomes.
- Provide Occupational Therapy advice and education to the multidisciplinary team, operational supervisors, and key stakeholders regarding clinical care and service development.
