About the role
Permanent full time or part time opportunity to provide medical and clinical assessment and treatment for people presenting to the Alcohol and Drug Services (ADS) or Hospital Alcohol and Drug Service (HADS) and other clinical programs within the Metro North Mental Health-Alcohol and Drug Service (MNMH-ADS).
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Undertake comprehensive medical assessments, including a full medical, psychiatric and alcohol and drug use history, physical examination and laboratory investigations as appropriate.
- Screen consumers for common manifestations of alcohol and drug related harm, including for example liver disease, psychiatric disorders and other medical problems. This should include screening for complications which may arise from needle sharing, including blood borne viruses and other sexually transmitted diseases.
- Work within an interdisciplinary team to facilitate the comprehensive assessment, planning and implementation of appropriate clinical management for persons who are dependent on opioids or other psychoactive substances.
- Advise consumers on the appropriate treatment of their drug or alcohol dependence and related concerns and implement or facilitate such treatment.
- Provide education to consumers particularly in relation to healthy lifestyles, adaptive behaviour changes and education about minimising risk behaviours.
