About the role

As the leader of Queensland's flagship health service, the HSCE will steward a system of statewide significance — one that sets standards for innovation, collaboration and equity across the sector. This is a uniquely complex and high-impact role, requiring a leader who can unite a large and diverse workforce, restore performance, rebuild engagement and position Metro North Health as a trusted, forward-looking organisation.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Lead the implementation of Metro North Health's Strategic Plan and Clinical Service Plans, ensuring all activity aligns with Queensland Government health priorities. Shape Metro North's contribution to the broader health system through partnership, collaboration and innovation.
  • Drive high performance through a values-led culture that connects clinical excellence, fiscal accountability and staff engagement. Foster a culture of inclusion, psychological safety and wellbeing, ensuring that leadership behaviours align with Metro North's values.
  • Develop and empower a high-performing executive and workforce culture. Lead the renewal of People and Culture functions to ensure strategic workforce capability, strong leadership pipelines and a focus on attracting and retaining diverse talent.
  • Champion innovation, digital integration and research partnerships to improve clinical outcomes. Lead the implementation of Metro North's digital health transformation and ensure major capital projects align with strategic priorities and community needs.

Health Equity

It is expected that all Metro North Health staff, including the incumbent of this role as a valuable member of the Metro North workforce, contribute to the health equity agenda and meet the intent of supporting the defined six actions that specifically meet the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people within the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHS), by actively supporting the elimination of racial discrimination and institutional racism; supporting increased access to health care; influencing the social, cultural and economic determinants of health; supporting the delivery of sustainable, culturally safe and responsive health services;  and recognise the importance of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and organisations to design, deliver, monitor and review the health and support services we provide.
