About Aspley Special School

Aspley Special School is located within the Metropolitan region of the Queensland Department of Education. The student catchment area is geographically very large, spreading from the inner city to Eatons Hill, Sandgate and Bracken Ridge.

We are unique in that it is the only special school in the Brisbane City Council area that provides programs for secondary aged students with disability. To ensure that all students, regardless of ability, are succeeding, our school provides individualised programs to meet the needs of the students.

Our school is focused on ‘learning for life' to ensure that students are developing the skills required for post-school life.

About the Role

This role offers the opportunity to operate autonomously, providing essential business services within a dynamic school environment. You will be responsible for a comprehensive range of administrative support, including report preparation and problem-solving, while frequently interpreting complex information and adapting processes to ensure efficient operations.

A key aspect of this position involves the day-to-day supervision and management of school support staff. This includes monitoring workloads, performance (in collaboration with the Principal for sensitive matters), identifying capability needs, and serving as a role model for performance standards. You will also oversee timesheet and leave approvals, rostering, relief arrangements, and coordinate the recruitment, induction, and training of support staff.

Furthermore, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Principal with budget preparation and administration, undertaking daily financial activities such as expenditure review, payroll, and purchasing. This extends to monitoring and advising on facilities and grounds maintenance, managing resource procurement, and actively building networks with other Business Managers to champion best practices in corporate services.

Please refer to the attached role description for any mandatory requirements for this position.
