Fortitude Valley State Secondary College is Brisbane's first inner-city high school in over 50 years, established in 2020. We cater for 840 students across Years 7 to 12, and our inaugural Year 12 cohort is graduating this year.
Located in the heart of Fortitude Valley, the college is integrated into a vibrant precinct of local businesses, community groups, and cultural facilities. Our innovative vertical design maximizes space and connectivity, supporting a dynamic learning experience.

About the Role
Fortitude Valley State Secondary College is seeking a dynamic leader with a proven track record in delivering quality learning outcomes for all students. As an instructional leader, you will focus on developing students who are problem-solvers with decision-making agility and resilience, preparing them for the future.
As the Head of Department, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Lead the school department and curriculum focus (Technologies or HPE) - developing and providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Build partnerships with students, parents, agencies, and community groups - overseeing co-curricular and extra- curricular activities.
- Be future-oriented and strategic - contributing to whole-school strategic and operational processes.
- Set high standards for student and staff performance - providing pastoral care for students and managing staff performance.
