Dayboro State School has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and dedicated Schools Officer (Grounds and Facilities) to join our team.

As the Schools Officer (Grounds and Facilities), you will contribute to the efficient and effective operation of the school by providing high-quality grounds and facilities support to the Principal, Business Manager, or nominated delegate.

You will perform a range of activities to ensure the school is maintained to a high standard, follow set instructions, and work independently to carry out various routine day-to-day services.

This is a OO2 progression position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the OO2 classification with eligibility for progression to the OO3 level once specific criteria have been met. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of OO2 to OO3 classification range.

Your Opportunity 

As the Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities you will contribute to the efficient and effective operation and environment of the school by providing a high level of grounds and facilities to the Principal, Business Manager or nominated delegate.

You will perform a range of activities to ensure that the school is maintained to a high standard; follow set instructions; and have independence to perform a variety of day-to-day services that are routine in nature. However, the role receives regular supervision when undertaking duties that are non-routine in nature.

As the Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities you will not be required to perform any task or repairs that would normally require the services of a qualified tradesperson.

The position reports directly to the Principal, Business Manager or nominated delegate. 

Your Responsibilities 

As the Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:  

  • Performing a range of day-to-day activities, which may include delivering and collecting mail, parcels, and documents; preparing activity and assembly halls, including moving and arranging furniture and seating; relocating furniture between rooms; maintaining various registers; and conducting stocktakes and recording/engraving school equipment, furniture, and assets.
  • Supporting a variety of security-related duties at the school, including using and maintaining the school's security systems; transporting and depositing school funds at the appropriate banking institution (note: this does not include the collection, receipt, or reconciliation of funds); and locking and unlocking buildings during core hours.
  • Assisting with a range of maintenance duties, including clearing and hosing drains and gutters; collecting waste, food, and paper from school grounds as directed by relevant staff and the Principal, Business Manager, and/or nominated delegate; performing immediate cleaning tasks outside the normal hours of the school's cleaning staff; coordinating the removal and/or disposal of rubbish as required (excluding the emptying of bins in designated eating areas); and supporting preparations for significant events such as fetes, plays, and major sporting events.
