The Metro North Human Resources Operations team is seeking an experienced complex matters specialist to join our team as a Principal HR Consultant. This temporary role is available to start immediately and will run until 30 June 2026, unless otherwise determined.

About the Department:

About the Role:

This role directly supports school leaders and provides advise in relation to performance management, complaints and grievance investigations, facilitating alternative conflict resolution strategies and making recommendations with outcomes that may include disciplinary action.

Responsibilities Include:

As the Principal Human Resource Consultant, you will have responsibility for the following:

  • Provide expert advice to the regional management team regarding the delivery of human resource management services including employee relation issues.
  • Manage complex employee relations matters including advice on Local Consultative committees, Enterprising Bargaining Agreements, Certified Agreements and complex Award interpretation.
  • Manage mediations, investigations, and performance management matters.
  • Investigate routine employee grievances and alleged breaches of employment related policies.
  • Curation of activities, actions and other parties to identify the best pathway to bring issues to resolution.
  • As a member of regional HR leadership team, contribute to change and relational management processes in the region.
  • The Principal Human Resource Consultant reports to Manager HR Operations, Metropolitan North Region.

Our team is co-located within the Brisbane North / Moreton Bay area with offices in Nundah and North Lakes as potential base locations. Flexible work arrangements are available and can be negotiated.
