Aviation High is looking for a reliable and hands-on Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our school community. In this role, you’ll carry out a variety of routine maintenance and groundskeeping tasks, ensuring the school is always presented at a high standard. This is a progressional position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the lower classification with eligibility for progression to the next, once specific criteria have been met or demonstrated. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of both classification ranges.

Step Into Your Next Chapter:

  • Coordinate and carry out repairs and maintenance on school infrastructure including furniture, equipment, locks, windows, and maintaining detailed records in line with Work Health and Safety protocols.
  • Support the setup and logistical needs of significant school events such as assemblies, School performances and major school events.
  • Manage delivery and collection of mail, parcels, important documents, and messages throughout the school, ensuring timely and accurate distribution.
  • Operate and maintain security systems, ensuring the safety of school buildings by managing alarm systems, locking/unlocking facilities during core hours.
  • Maintain effective communication with the Principal, Business Manager, or delegated staff regarding scheduled and urgent maintenance tasks, prioritising facility upkeep.
  • Proven hands-on experience in building maintenance, including routine repairs and upkeep of school facilities, furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Be skilled in identifying, diagnosing, and resolving common maintenance issues related to plumbing, electrical systems, locks, windows, and general carpentry.
  • Familiarity with managing tools, equipment, and maintenance records in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Ability to coordinate with external tradespersons and contractors to ensure timely and effective completion of repair and maintenance work.
