Burpengary State School is seeking a passionate Teacher Aide (Identified) to provide culturally responsive support that strengthens engagement, wellbeing, and educational outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students through strong school community partnerships. You will also contribute to the broader school community by supporting cultural awareness and understanding.

This position is being offered in a Temporary Part-Time capacity (0.79FTE), 60 hours per fortnight.

Burpengary State School is a vibrant primary school in Burpengary, Queensland, educating students from Prep to Year 6 in a supportive and inclusive environment. The school focuses on quality teaching, strong student wellbeing and positive partnerships with families and the local community to help each student thrive.

About the Role

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting teachers and students with sporting activities and with school excursions.
  • Communicating effectively and displaying high level of interpersonal skills to function as an effective team member.
  • Development of activities which promote productive partnerships between individual and group members of the community, under the relevant teacher or other staff member responsible for the indigenous portfolio.
  • Maintaining anecdotal records on students for use in reviewing student's development.
  • Displaying confidentiality, tact, reliability and sensitivity to students and their families.

A mandatory requirement of this role is:

  • For this position, it is a genuine occupational requirement that it be filled by an Aboriginal person or a Torres Strait Islander person as set out in Section 7 of the Anti Discrimination Act 1991 for the purposes contained in Section 25 of that Act.
