An exciting opportunity exists at The Gap State High School for a dynamic individual to fill a permanent Cleaner position. We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable team member with a proactive approach to maintaining clean, safe and hygienic learning environments, with training provided as needed. This role is offered on a part-time basis (0.79FTE), 35 hours per week, over five days (Monday to Friday) in split shifts.

Your Role:

As a Cleaner, you will contribute to maintaining a safe, clean and hygienic learning environment across the school by providing high-quality cleaning services to classrooms, facilities and outdoor areas. You will work as part of a team within a larger cleaning workforce, collaborating with colleagues to ensure allocated areas and buildings across the school are well maintained.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Cleaning windows, glass surfaces, doorknobs, taps, sinks, and other high-touch areas.
  • Cleaning and sanitising toilets, sick bays, and other hygiene-sensitive areas.
  • Sweeping, vacuuming, and general cleaning of classrooms, offices, and communal paces.
  • Floor maintenance including mopping, buffing, stripping, and polishing of vinyl and timber surfaces.
  • Cleaning outdoor areas including paved surfaces, concrete, and surrounding school grounds.
  • Removing rubbish, litter, and debris, including clearing drains and gutters as required.
  • Dusting furniture, equipment, blinds, and fans in student and staff areas.
  • Assisting with cobweb and mildew removal using appropriate equipment.
  • Reporting maintenance, safety, or security concerns to the Business Manager or delegated staff.
  • Locking and unlocking buildings and activating/deactivating security systems as required.
  • Supporting safe, clean, and hygienic learning environments across the school.
