At Pine Rivers Special School you will join a collaborative and values-driven team committed to continuous improvement and professional growth. Staff benefit from comprehensive coaching, mentoring, high-quality professional learning and strong whole-school support structures that foster both personal and professional success. You will lead initiatives that support positive student engagement, management and outcomes through evidence-based practices, including Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems, Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL), and effective Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions. You will also support staff to respond to behaviours with empathy, tailor curriculum and assessment for students accessing Highly Individualised Curriculum Plans (HICP) and Different Year Level Programs (DYLP) and coordinate induction processes to ensure new staff are well supported.

Your Role:

  • Collaborate with teachers to support the implementation of their Setting Professional Goals (SPG), including coaching and mentoring to enhance engagement and pedagogical practices in the classroom
  • Model and coach high-impact teaching strategies, specifically focusing on the Gradual Release of Responsibility model, to improve teaching practices and student outcomes
  • Tailor curriculum to meet the individual needs of Highly Individualised Curriculum Plan (HICP) and Different Year Level-Partial (DYLP) students, including the adjustment and development of assessments and marking guides
  • Respond to student behaviours with empathy, providing guidance and support to staff in managing and understanding challenging behaviours
  • Work collaboratively with the leadership team, HODCs and coaches to support Tier 2 and Tier 3 students, implementing engagement strategies and interventions
  • Mentor beginning teachers, equipping them with knowledge and skills related to teaching in a special school context and supporting their professional growth
  • Lead and coordinate staff induction processes, ensuring new team members are effectively supported and prepared to work in the special school environment
