Agricultural Assistant - Dakabin State High School

Are you passionate about agriculture, animal care, and supporting hands-on learning? We are seeking a motivated and reliable Agricultural Assistant to help maintain and support our school's agricultural program.

The Agricultural Assistant will support the delivery of the school's agricultural program through the care and maintenance of livestock, crops, equipment and agricultural facilities. The role will work collaboratively with the Schools Officer - Grounds to maintain the school farm, surrounding grounds and associated infrastructure, ensuring a safe, productive and well-presented learning environment for students and staff.

About our School:

Dakabin State High School, established in 1978, is located approximately 30 kilometres north of Brisbane's CBD and serves a broad community including Dakabin, Kallangur, Narangba, Undurba, Dayboro, Kurwongbah, and Petrie. With around 1,000 students enrolled from Years 7 to 12, the school has built a strong reputation for academic and vocational excellence, supported by a proud history of community engagement. The school offers a mandatory device program, giving students access to digital learning tools such as Education Perfect across core subjects like English, Mathematics, Science, and Humanities. Dakabin SHS also features standout programs including a world-class Basketball program delivered in partnership with the Brisbane Bullets, and a nationally recognised Certificate III in Agriculture, which reinforces the school's strong agricultural focus.

About the Role:

  • Contribute to the efficient and effective operation of the school by providing a high level of agricultural systems support to the nominated school staff.
  • Ensure that the agricultural field study sites, animals, crops, machinery and equipment used by the school are maintained in a functional, secure and safe manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain agricultural facilities, machinery, equipment, and field study sites.
  • Care for livestock, crops, gardens, and agricultural resources.
  • Assist with the maintenance of agricultural infrastructure and equipment.
  • Manage agricultural supplies, stock, and inventory.
  • Support teachers and students during practical agricultural activities.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organised working environment.
  • Undertake other duties as directed to support the school's agricultural program.
