About our School:

Pine Rivers Special School, located in Lawnton, approximately 20 km north of the Brisbane CBD, provides specialised education for Prep to Year 12 students with verified intellectual disability and complex learning needs. Guided by the motto "Yes, We Can," the school delivers individualised, inclusive programs that support students to reach their full potential through differentiated curriculum, communication, social skills, positive behaviour support and transition-to-work pathways. With a strong focus on student wellbeing, staff capability and community partnerships, Pine Rivers Special School fosters a caring and collaborative environment where every student is empowered to develop the skills and confidence needed for life beyond school.

  • Experience in special education is valued but not essential - we're looking for people with the right attitude, a willingness to learn and a passion for making a difference.

Responsibilities:

  • Support teachers in delivering quality learning programs and classroom activities.
  • Assist students individually and in small groups.
  • Prepare, organise and maintain teaching resources, equipment and learning materials.
  • Supervise students during classroom activities, playground duty, excursions and sporting events.
  • Provide administrative support, including photocopying, record keeping and organising class materials.
  • Support student wellbeing through first aid (where qualified), personal care and positive behaviour support.
  • Assist with literacy and numeracy activities, including reading with students and using technology to support learning.
  • Work collaboratively with staff, students and families while demonstrating empathy, professionalism and effective communication.
