In this permanent part-time role, you’ll use your social work expertise to provide compassionate counselling, therapy, advocacy and wellbeing support to students and families, helping young people feel safe, connected and empowered to thrive. You’ll work collaboratively with school communities and allied health professionals, coordinating services and supports that respond to the unique needs of each student. Your opportunity:

As part of the Student Wellbeing Workforce, we aim to ensure every Queensland state school student has access to a wellbeing professional at school. The focus of the role is to provide support for students with mild to moderate mental health concerns. Wellbeing professionals employed through the Student Wellbeing Workforce work as part of schools' established student support teams to enhance the wellbeing and mental health support available to students.

As the Social Woker, responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Assess the mental health needs of students to inform appropriate therapeutic interventions
• Deliver individual and group interventions to students which address mental health concerns
• Work collaboratively with schools' leadership and student support teams to inform student support planning, and provide advice to teachers supporting students' mental health in the classroom
• Develop referral and case management processes to support delivery of the service
• Coordinate referrals to external agencies, and work collaboratively with external networks and stakeholders to ensure access to appropriate supports for students
• Provide advice and assistance to families to support the mental health of students
• Support school communities in responding to critical incidents and emergencies as part of the school response team
