Your key responsibilities
- Provide operational management for the clinical service and resources within the Neurophysiology team, ensuring delivery of care across a range of clinical settings and services within Metro South Health
- Ensure patients and other staff are treated fairly and with mutual respect and understanding, regardless of cultural, religious, ethnic and linguistic backgrounds, gender, identity, ages or abilities.
Clinical / Technical
- Deliver advanced clinical and consultancy Neurophysiology services for the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Logan Hospital and broader Metro South Health Service in accordance with accepted professional practices, legal and ethical requirements with a high degree of independence.
- Apply advanced level independent professional judgment regarding the assessment and treatment planning of complex patients.
- Demonstrate high-level clinical leadership and mentoring support to problem solve urgent and emergent complex clinical issues.
Collaboration, Teamwork & Consumer Engagement
- Provide advanced clinical advice and direction to the team of Neurophysiology Scientists to ensure effective service delivery and quality outcomes applying change management, conflict resolution and negotiation skills where necessary.
- Provide high quality clinical supervision to the Neurophysiology Scientists and allied health assistants to support effective and efficient service delivery of the Neurodiagnostic Service.
Work Unit Management
- Actively contribute to workforce planning and resource management to meet service requirements by representing the Neurophysiology unit to advocate with stakeholders for resources to provide high level Neurophysiological clinical services at a facility, district and state-wide level
- Prepare, analyse and interpret data and trends for caseload allocation, service improvement, workforce planning, and resource allocation
Leadership
- Demonstrate clinical leadership and expertise obtained through significant professional development activities, post graduate education or formal qualifications and actively pursues development and learning opportunities, including contribution to training of the Neurophysiology Scientists and other health professionals.
- Utilise high level knowledge of contemporary trends in health workforce and service delivery to identify in consultation with the senior staff and executives, further opportunities to introduce and sustain innovative models of care.
- Provide leadership and change management to support local implementation of innovate models of care by engaging stakeholders, developing appropriate educational support materials and resources and effectively communicating new developments and outcomes.
- Lead the development and knowledge translation of evidence based clinical practices, procedures, protocols and education materials to improve the delivery of Neurophysiology Services.
Service Improvement
- Lead innovative quality/service improvement activities and contribute to research of significant scope and clinical importance to Neurophysiology, seeking outcomes that influence standards of clinical practice and the delivery of services to meet local needs and influence broader organisational goals including publishing/presenting relevant work broadly.
- Advise senior management and other relevant interprofessional stakeholders on Neurophysiology Service needs and initiatives with the aim to assist with the quality management and strategic development of the service.
- Contribute to the Neurophysiology professional body of knowledge through research publication in peer review journals, and/or the delivery of research, and/or evidenced based practice project outcomes at professional or clinical conferences.
Mandatory qualifications
- Appointment to this position requires possession of a science based tertiary degree from a recognised tertiary institute with a strong human physiology component and eligibility for membership with a relevant professional association or organisation. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager prior to commencement of clinical duties.
- Whilst not mandatory, relevant additional qualifications or evidence of considerable professional development in Neurophysiology and/or Management and Leadership will be well regarded.
