The Clinical Coding Service is looking for a Trainee Clinical Coder to join their team. Clinical coding is the assignment of alphanumeric and numeric codes to all diseases and procedures patients have during their episode of care. Coding Services assigns diagnoses and procedure codes to all hospital inpatient episodes using ICD-10-AM (International Classification of Diseases 10th Revision Australian Modification). The clinical coder accurately assigns specific morbidity and procedural classifications to patient episodes to meet data reporting requirements.

About the Role
To train as an operational Clinical Coder in the following competencies:
- Undertaking functions related to coding, grouping and quality to ensure timely and accurate completion of all inpatient coding morbidity data.
- Contributing to fostering a team approach to meeting deadlines, education, consistency of coding and improving data quality.
- To accurately assign specific morbidity and procedural classifications to patient episodes to meet data reporting requirements and deadlines of Metro South Health (MSH) and Queensland Health.
- The operational clinical coder trainee is acknowledged as having competent level clinical coding skills and knowledge, across a broad range of specialties.
