Addiction and Mental Health Services are looking for an Assistant Director of Nursing - Addiction and Mental Health Services Professional Strategy to join their team. Metro South Addiction and Mental Health Services provide inpatient, hospital-based and community mental health and community alcohol and drug services for all age groups at campuses across Metro South Health. MSAMHS is committed to the provision of services that are patient centred and recovery focused. The role provides contemporary strategic, operational and professional nursing leadership and management for nursing services within an expansive and/or complex environment.

About the Role
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) provides contemporary strategic, operational and professional nursing leadership and management for nursing services within an expansive and/or complex environment. In collaboration with the Director of Nursing, the role provides the coordination and responsibility for service delivery, human and material management, expertise in health care team communication and highly developed data analysis and fiscal management to deliver safe, quality, effective and efficient healthcare provision. The position also shapes corporate and clinical governance in partnership with the Addiction and Mental Health Nursing (AMHS) executive team. The role works collaboratively and supports the Health Service priorities, strategic direction and vision for the Nursing profession.
The position partners with the AMHS Nursing Executive team to operationalise specific service wide professional portfolios relating to AMHS nursing workforce, nursing excellence and quality improvement. The position co-ordinates the AMHS Nurse Education portfolio and supports the operationalisation of cross discipline education strategies in collaboration with the AMHS Director of Nursing and Executive Team members. The position line manages the AMHS Nurse Educators who are located across Metro South.
- Responsible for the achievement of operational and strategic performance targets, evaluations and outcomes in line with operational plans, service targets and national and state benchmarks.
- Accountable for coordination of services and standards and application of corporate and clinical governance for Addition and Mental Health Nursing services.
- Collaborate and engage with nursing executive, internal and external stakeholders, committees and advisory groups to support operational and strategic functions of MSH.
- Promote and support a culture of continuous quality improvement in line with nursing and organisational strategic direction.
