Purpose of the Role
The Clinical Nurse (Clinical Research (CNCR) role provides advanced clinical and problem-solving skills, expert planning, and coordination skills in the clinical management of hypertensive patients/residents/clients with complex care needs, ensuring quality standards are met. This role works autonomously within the healthcare team structure and is pivotal in the planning, managing, and delivering of hypertension specialist nursing care. The CNCR provides clinical leadership for professional and clinical practice, education, and research. The role supports in management activities including portfolio responsibilities.
This role is responsible for advanced nursing management of all participants who are referred from within and outside the hospital for research in the Hypertension Unit and for supporting their families. This role delivers participant advocacy. This role requires supporting clinical research staff and strong collaboration with all personnel within Metro South as well as local, interstate, and international third parties. This role requires clinical experience to effectively manage protocol implementation, data accuracy, and reporting of adverse safety events.

▪Assumes responsibility for professional leadership for a ward, service or unit in the absence of the Nurse Grade 7 (NG7).
▪Applies critical thinking across all the domains.
Context
▪This role reports professionally to the Hypertension Clinical Nurse Consultant.
▪This role reports operationally to the Hypertension Clinical Nurse Consultant (medical stream).
▪Responsible for own activities and for delegation of activities to others.
▪This role, if directed by the Principal Investigator, may be required to assist in the management of the finances for the clinical trial/s delegated to this role.
▪This position fulfils the responsibilities for portfolios including Clinical, Management, Education (clinical facilitation), Research and National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards as delegated or directed.
