Metro South Addiction and Mental Health Services (MSAMHS) are looking for an Advanced Peer Worker (Identified - Lived Experience) to join their team. MSAMHS provide inpatient, hospital-based and community mental health and community alcohol and drug services for all age groups across a number of campuses. The successful candidate will positively promote and demonstrate individual recovery and be open to appropriately sharing your personal lived/living experience of recovery, mental health and/or substance use challenges.

About the Role
- Use your lived/living experience of challenges with your own mental health, substance use or suicidality to model recovery strategies and provide formalized peer support to consumers currently accessing support in an adult inpatient mental health ward setting.
- To support consumers staying in an adult inpatient, short stay unit using trauma informed care and a person-centred approach.
- In conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team, develop and run Peer lead groups and provide consumers with support in their recovery planning.
- Provide consumers with education, information and support from personal experience of recovery and of utilizing mental health services and non-government agencies within an inpatient setting.
This is an identified vacancy with a genuine occupational requirement for the position to be filled by a candidate who has a personal lived/living experience of mental health challenges and/or substance use challenges. Candidates not meeting this criteria will not be considered.
